Your doctor will insert a thin tube (catheter) filled with a silicone balloon down your throat and into your stomach. Next, your doctor inserts an endoscope down your throat into your stomach. An endoscope is a thin, flexible tube with a camera and light attached to the end. The camera helps your doctor see the inside of your stomach clearly without the need to surgically open your abdomen. When the endoscope and balloon reach your stomach, the balloon is filled with sterile saline through the catheter attached to the balloon. The balloon will be filled until it is too large to pass through the small intestine.
